Staff Spotlight: Bri Hart

By Listya Munthe

Bri Hart is this year’s International Student Life’s graduate assistant. She was born and raised in Thomson, GA and also attended the University of Georgia from 2009 to 2013. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education and majored in Health and Physical Education. During Bri’s time at UGA, she was an IMPACT site leader, a Service Ambassador, a Dawg Camp Counselor, and a member of the Zeta Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. After two years of working as a College Adviser for the Georgia College Advising Corps at Westside High School in Augusta, GA, Bri developed an interest in student affairs. Currently, she is back to receive her Master of Education in College Student Affairs Administration.

When asked about why she decided to come back to UGA, she explained, “This program is such a high ranking program nationally. Initially, coming back to UGA wasn’t at the top of my mind, but I wasn’t going to not take this opportunity because of such a trivial thing. The professors that I work with right now are amazing, and a perk is that I don’t have to navigate through an entirely new campus. I felt a lot of energy from the students during my time here as a student, and since coming back, it hasn’t changed.”

Why did you apply for this job?

“This position chose me honestly. I knew from the start that this would be a challenge since I have never been abroad before. However, I like challenges, and I knew that I would be able to learn a lot from this opportunity and be able to provide a lot of insight with my perspective.”

What is your favorite part of your position?

“I love meeting with the students and hearing their different perspectives on things. I’m really big on stories, and I have been able to broaden my world view by learning so much about the students’ unique perspectives. It’s so much fun to “switch out lenses” to view these different stories.”

What do you do for fun outside of work?

“Well, I don’t have cable, so I am intentional about my programming. Netflix and Apple TV save me. I love the show Scandal on ABC, so I can’t wait for Fridays when the newest episode is put online. I also work for the UGA Athletic Department as an Academic Mentor and try to exercise when I have time since I did major in health and physical education.”

What is a fun fact about you?

“I’ve had the same UGA ID card from 2009 that I got at my freshman orientation.”
