Brigaderio Recipe

Ingredients: 1 can condensed milk (14 ounces)

3 heaping teaspoons of cocoa powder (unsweetened)

Butter for greasing hands to roll the balls

Chocolate sprinkles or coconut flakes or any crushed nuts

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cocoa and condensed milk.

Cook, stirring, until thickened, about 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and let rest in the freezer for about an hour or until cool enough to handle.

Form into small balls, and roll in chocolate sprinkles. Ready to eat. Refrigerate leftovers.

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a small sauce pan mix the sweet condensed milk and the cocoa powder. (Hint: Sift it for a smooth texture)
  2. Bring the sauce pan to the stove and heat it over medium heat.
  3. Stir the mixture constantly (Hint: It will burn unless you keep stirring) until it thickens.
  4. Reserve, letting it cool in the freezer or refrigerator. (Freeze it up to an hour for a cool temperature)
  5. In a plate or bowl, spread your sprinkles.
  6. Once the brigadeiro is cool, grease your hands with butter and roll the brigadeiros into little balls.(In Brazil they usually use half a tablespoon as measurement, but you can make your balls as big or small as you’d like!)
  7. Roll the brigadeiro balls into the sprinkles and place them in paper/foil candy cups.
  8. Eat and enjoy! Refrigerate any leftovers to keep them fresh.

Huge thank you to Brazilian Student Association for letting us film them! Every semester, BSA holds a fundraiser selling these to raise money for their Symposium! Check it out on Saturday, March 25th at 7pm!
